I got this model a couple days ago. It is expensive, but way better than the cut-rate models offered on the Lenovo web site. See, my post on the model I returned.

So far, everything works fine. It is speedy. My impression is, in comparison to earlier models, they finally got it right.

I ordered 2GB memory from the factory. For web browsing, 1GB is adequate, but you don't need this expensive computer. If you are developing applications, do yourself a favor and get 2GB.

Yes sir - I have the 2007-93U with added 1 gig Ram.

I would not say that in comparison to previous models they finally got it right. They just got better as the technology evolved.

I can honestly say this because I owned a T20, T22, T42, T43P and now T60p. Except for the T20, they are still all operational and are used in my family (college etc).

I use the T6op for work and it kicks.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only difference between this model and the 2623DDU is the CPU is 2.16ghz instead of 2.0ghz and it does not have the Verizon Sierra Wireless card, right?

I think you are basically right. However, the whole is not just the sum of its parts. This model represents a evolutionary step in comparison to its predecessor.

Having tried out both, I would recommend the newer model.

Both the T60p 2007-92U and 2623DDU were first available in February of 2006, so I don't think you can assume one is "newer" than the other.

Aside from the CPU, exactly what parts are an 'evolutionary step' compared to other models in the T60 line?

If you're talking about the poor out-of-box experience that you related in the other thread, that has absolutely nothing to do with evolution. You received a lemon, that was it. It could just as well have happened with the 200792U.

Please stop making baseless claims. If you're going to make controversial statements like the ones in this and the other thread you started, at least justify them with some reasoning. It's nice that you now have a T60 that works well for you, but it's also unfair to unjustly bash another model without justification.

Lenovo _does not_ offer (nor produce) cut-rate models. They simply choose to discount prices on some of the more popular models. Each model is of high quality, and receives the same attention to detail across the entire line.

This model is simply configured differently as opposed to being evolutionary. What we are enjoying here is a wide range of models and configurations. Far more than offered by any other notebook computer company. It's up to us as the consumer to decide which model is the most appropriate for the type of usage we have in mind....
