IR Port

Hi,

I want to use the IR port sparingly. Although when I disable it through Hardware Devices - it comes back on enabled when I restart the computer it comes back on.

What is annoying - when I look at the port with any video camera - it shows me that it's polling. Which further kills my battery.

Any ideas on how to disable it every-now and then? without resorting to BIOS?

BTW - i have Nokia software installed - perhaps it is responsible?! anyone have any experience with this?

Have you tried running Start->ThinkVantage->Thinkpad Configuration, clicking on "Infrared" and disabling it there?

You would think that disabling it in BIOS was enough. That should (but apparently doesn't) be the master switch.
