T60p

#1 Post by ibmthink » Fri Jul 21, 2006 1:23 pm

I have this laptop since last two months. there's nothing i like abt it other than its config specs.

its build quality is nothing like the t40 to t43 series.
keyboards do not fit properly, memory freezes time to time, you do a bios change something or the other breaks.
there is no svideo port, they had it moved to the docking station so we buy one more of there product.

the look and feel is so diff.

other than that IBM logo theres nothing great abt it.

i am not at all impressed( with all that pre installed software the machine sucks with the kind of config i have). i run a big excel file calculation and the response time is bad.

The spell checker function doesn't work either.

And your point is...?

If you're here to bash thinkpads, be a troll and start flame wars, you've got the wrong place. Perhaps you should try the Dell forums; it's a more suitable match for you.

IIRC, the Dell forums are full of people bashing Dell. I'm not sure they would back up a ThinkPad trashing troll either. :D

sorry to hear, but this is a support, not a complaint forum. If you're looking for people to respond "yeah right!" I don't think that's the right place.
But if you're looking for help to solve the bad response times or crashes, you might get some help here with that. I mean just see the positive side, you could have gotten an overheating, discolouring macbook pro instead :) :) :)

You're absolutely correct, it has a better more solid feel than my t42.

Agreed. The T42 still feels a little lighter/thinner to me, but the T60 makes up for this by transferring the weight without flexing as much.

The keyboard and memory issues are probably uncommon. Have you tried contacting Lenovo support for part exchange?

Indeed, the T60s do not flex as much as the T40 series because they have an internal single-piece titanium frame. Rather than just having an exoskeleton, the T60s have an exoskeleton over an endoskeleton.

legitimate complaints - memory freezes time to time

#10 Post by robbi » Sat Jul 22, 2006 2:24 am

Don't be intimidated by people who think they know more than you. English is not a requirement for buying a computer.

Of the various complaints you mention, memory freezing is absolutely legitimate. I had the same problem with a T60p I sent back to IBM.

Even if it is too late to send back, you are probably under warranty. Contact IBM and get them to resolve the memory problem.
