I was wondering if anyone here has experience with registry editing ATI files?

I have found where it appears the Hypermemory settings are stored, and I want to know if anyone thinks I ought to try to do some editing. I have already done a backup of the registry. For your information, the registry section I found is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ATI Technologies > CDS > 0000 > 0 > Memory

Given the way Hypermemory works, I would imagine it would require a change to the video BIOS rather than just a registry setting but why would you want to disable it anyway?

For one, I wouldn't be fiddling in the registry looking to disable a low level thing like HyperMemory. Keep in mind that HyperMemory requires the BIOS to be at the corret version to interface with the GPU chipset correctly. Hence, it is a matter in the BIOS for the most part, with perhaps a minor portion allocated to it by the ATI drivers in Windows. You could, with difficulty, get rid of that by editing the registry alot but you would still have to deal with the BIOS and GPU cooperating a la HyperMemory, but Windows will simply be less "aware" of it; which just ends up wasting resources.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is not currently a BIOS option to disable this.
