concerned t60 user (screen issue and cpu fan issue)

#1 Post by liquid_sonata » Sat Jul 22, 2006 9:10 pm

greetings everyone,

i've been using my t60 2623-d3u for about two and a half weeks now. i've fresh installed windows xp professional and i've got all the latest ibm drivers and microsoft updates.

i've two questions:

(1) i've basically never heard my cpu fan start up. when i put my ear next to the vents with the heatsinks, i can hear a whirring but i'm not sure whether or not this is the cpu or gpu fan. and although i've never done anything really cpu-intensive on my computer, i'm still perturbed. plus, i do believe my computer is a bit warm even when i return to my computer after it's been idling.

i realize that i could probably d/l prime95 and make my cpu work and see if the fan starts up but i think it would be safer to find a program that measures or controls cpu fan rpm. does anyone know of any such programs?

(2) when my computer is running on battery, occasionally the screen will flash off and on again. is this normal, and is there some way i can stop this?

thanks a bunch,
l. s.

1) There is only one fan in T60 for both cpu and gpu.

2) is not normal at all. Call Lenovo, exchange one if possible.
