New T60 becoming hot

hi,
I bought a T60 laptop before 20 days. suddenly from from today..my laptop is becoming hot in 10 to 20 mins.. (i feel uncomfortable in my lap). But earlier it was not like that ... even i used to work for an hour or more..it was not becoming this much hot .. but suddenly from yesterday i could feel the difference..what could be the reason ??
is it normal with all thinkpads ..?? any inputs will be of great help

What are the temperatures in various parts of the Thinkpad? Also, what other applications have you been running now that you weren't running before?

Thanks for your concerns..
yes ..Fan is running...
and temperature is more in the bottom center part ...

Check your task manager and see if that CPU is going at 100%. Something is munching down on your CPU making it work at 100%.
Where are you using your TP at? In an air con room or open area without air con?
Most important DO NOT use it on your lap as it will burn your lap and if you are a guy, it will err...

Hi ,
CPU is running only at 5% . but i don't no why it is becoming this much warm .. i feel very uncomfortable even after keeping for 10 mins.. i could hear the noise of the fan running..but do we have any option to find the current temperature of the laptop ??

It will get warmer when connected to AC than on battery because of charging and running the CPU and video at full speed (unless you've customized). Even so, I don't think it should get as hot as you describe with 5% CPU load.
I ran into a case recently on a desktop where Task Manager reported System Idle Process at 95%+ but CPU load at 50-100%. Turns out it was interrupt servicing by the kernel, something that was revealed by a third party freebie that I like, "Process Explorer NT." I didn't get a chance to troubleshoot further -- the machine was new so the owner swapped it out with the vendor, but it pointed out that crippling CPU load can be present and not show up in the task list.
It would be good to know what your power usage is. Here's a way that doesn't involve downloading any software: while running, unplug your machine from AC and let it sit for a couple minutes unused with the screen on but on its lowest brightness. Next, click on the battery indicator on your taskbar (the one Lenovo puts up, not the Windows one in the system tray) and click on "Launch Power Manager..." Go to the battery information tab and read the "Wattage:" value. Report that back along with the general details of your system (processor speed, screen type and such) and I can let you know if your power usage sounds within normal range or what, if anything, it suggest about your trouble.
