Another minor nitpick - volume of "BIOS beeps"

One thing which annoyed me about my T40 was how the ThinkPad beeps were directly related to my volume settings. I set my TP to beep whenever I close the lid, but if the sound was on mute, then there would be no beep.

Now in my T60p, the volume has no effect on the beeps, but the beep is too loud. I've looked all through Windows, but have not found any ability to affect the volume. Does anybody know where this can be adjusted? In BIOS?

There is a way to mute the beep.
Go to 'Device Manager' and then toggle view to 'Show Hidden Devices'. There is a 'Beep' device under 'non-plug and play drivers'. Disable it.

Nah, I actually want to keep the beep, but just reduce its volume.
