machine type & serial number (continuation)

Good day,

i dunno y but my thread was locked.

anyway ive solved my problem by bringing back my notebook to IBM service center directly (last time i brought it to the dealer).

got a confirmation from ibm guy tat my notebook mainboard was swapped to correct the "dotted-problem" (my dealer told me they swapped the lcd panel only!! totally misleading) and they forgot to input the serial no + machine type into the new mainboard.

tat's the reason y my notebook check return unknown on both serial + type.

got it back from ibm this morning, all in order + they've updated me the latest BIOS v.1.0.7

The thread was locked because there was a discussion of solicitation of a serial number.

The serial number, except in extreme cases, should only be dealt with and handled by the owner of the Thinkpad and IBM/Lenovo.It is not supposed to be made generally public information or shared due to a problem that could be corrected by going to the IBM/Lenovo service center directly.

That said, glad you got everything in order with your Thinkpad.
