Replacing a T41 with a T60?

Work is upgrading my T41 to a T60... While they supply the laptop (and what comes in the box), accessories are up to me...

I'm having a difficult time figuring out what, if any, of the stuff I have for my T23/T41 will work on the T60...

Important...
AC adapters? 72W (used with my T23, T30 and T40/T41)
Mini Dock (2878, P/N 62P4551, FRU 13R0291)

From lenovo's accessories web site...

it looks like AC Adapters are 90w, so I'm guessing that is out...

The only T60 dock they have is NOT what I have, and it appears it only supports the T60/Z60? support the T40/41 either... So two docks on my desk if I need to use the older thinkpad on occasion?

Nice, but not necessary..
Ultrabay Tray for 2nd hard drive
2.5" Hard drives (various 30/40gig IBM FRU's) either as primary or 2nd drive...

I can't find the Ultrabay tray listed... Does it use the same as the T40/41?

I'm assuming since the T60 appears to use SATA drives, use as Primary drive wont work?

Is it safe to assume the only way is I'll have to use external USB exclosures to use the extra drives I have?

The T60's dock is incompatible with previous T2x/T4x docking stations. Ditto for power supplies - the plug and wattage requirements are different.

The only compatible parts are the Slim Bay hard drive caddy and an accompanying PATA drive. You can put a PATA drive in a slim bay drive adapter and put it in a T60's slim bay. The bezel is curved on the outside so it's not a perfect match, but it works just fine. (The T60's slim bay's bezel is flat, not angled like the T4x).

Note that while the slim bay hard drive adapter from the T4x works in the T6x, the same is NOT true for the slim battery.

Assuming his T60 uses PATA and not SATA.

I recently went from T41 to a T60p - I too had an extra slim bay HD but I won't be able to use it as the T60p has SATA. I don't remember if ALL of the T60's have the same configuration though.

One other thing, the new bay on the T60 comes with rubber bumpers internally - they come right off the drive, but you'll still need'm when making a switch.

the t60 ALWAYS uses SATE for the internal drive.

the slimbay drive can be SATA _OR_ PATA, that`s only dependant on the kind of ultrabay slim adaptor you use

so, randyrants: your ultrabay slim pata drive WILL work on the t60

Thank you... you've answered my questions... and my New T60 is on the way... a 1951-A31.. should be here end of this week, beginning of next...

I'll have to order the port rep/docking station for it.. but my manager said he'll approve the purchase for me :)

the only thing I wont have is the ability to "switch" the primary hard drive if I want to.. and I wont have extra adapters.. But I can live with that... :D

Do these conclusions all hold true for all T6x models (T60s, T61s, 15"/14.1", etc)?

Also, what about extra, standard (as opposed to slimbay) batteries (be they 6-cell, 9-cell, or otherwise--if others exist)?

almost a year old... don't raise the dead :)

To answer the question tho... the batteries, NONE of them from the T4x series wont work on the newer T6x series.
