Ultrabay Adapter 2000 would work in T60?

#1 Post by sapsteve » Fri Aug 04, 2006 10:53 am

Hello Folks,

I recently acquired a T60. I wanted to use my T40's 100 GB, 7200 rpm ATA hard rive as second hard rive in my T60 for backup or additional storage. I am wondering if I would be able to use the "ThinkPad Second HDD Adapter for Ultra bay 2000 - hard drive adapter" in my T60. (which I will need to buy if it works).

I know about the other T60 adapter with SATA, but I wanted find out if I can use the old one rather than buying a new SATA hard rive and adapter.

Thanks,
Steve

The PATA drive will run just fine in the T60's slim bay. I do it all the time. I have the drive adapter from my T42p and it goes right in the T60.

The outside black bezel is different between the T4x and T60. The T4x's is angled, where the T60's is straight. You can buy a slim bay adapter for the T60 and put your PATA drive in (I've done this as well).

I've never put an SATA drive in the slim bay adapter. I've heard that it also works, but I haven't tested it.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

Just to clarify RonS's response - the Ultrabay 2000 HDD Adapter will not fit - you need the Ultrabay Slim HDD Adapter, like this:
