Thinkpads with global warranty

Hi all, I'm about to reenter the world of Thinkpad owners after a break of several years. However, since I move back and forth between the US and the rest of the world, I need one with an International Warranty. Are the global models the only ones with an International Warranty?

Also, is the 20075tu the only "global" T60 with a 15" Flexview and an x1400? That's the only one I could find in the TABOOK.

I'm also happy to join this forum. I've already found lots of useful information here.

dont know about model numbers (this seems to be different from us to europe and so) but the warranty, as long as it comes with a standard warranty then its valid internationally.

i knwo that for sure as long as when i was in states i had to change the keyboard (the laptop was bought in switzerland), a friend of mine bought his in states and he claimed for warranty here (swiss) and same thing apply also to the service packs.

now depends if you go in a funny country like sri lanka for ex where...ibm is recognised as intl warranty but not toshiba nor sony,
or in pakistan where a user reported no ibm service.

so basic rule: 99% its international, but first check in what country you need it to be valid!

Well, I am going from Burkina Faso to Ethiopia, with a too short break in the US.

Interestingly, when I look up certain models, they're listed as having warranty service even in Burkina Faso, but for the custom configured EPP models I qualify for, the Warranty Service appears to be US only. (I hope this doesn't violate the "No EPP" rule, I'm just discussing warranty not pricing, nor how to qualify for it.)

So, all Thinkpads have an international warranty, but not every country will have a qualified service center?

I have an extra on-site warranty, which is only valid in countries where there are either Lenevo/IBM techs or a service centre. But perhaps you could check, when the warranty is US only, if you can USP/Fedex/etc it back to the states, to let them fix it there.

I think repairs etc are still being done by IBM, so I looked at the IBM site for international contacts, and the contact adress for Burkina Faso and Ethiopia is in Côte d'Ivoire. Maybe you can contact them, about the warranty in Africa.

speaking of US only, for example the thinkpad protection or whatever is called (the service pack which coveres in cases of drop, spill bla bla bla all the accidents) it is valid only in us, i wanted to get one in switzerland but the answer was a plain "no way"
