Does T60 support 1440 X 900 resolution?

#1 Post by brsnyder » Sun Aug 13, 2006 7:54 pm

I just bought a new monitor that runs natively at 1440 X 900 resolution. The graphics card in my old laptop doesn't give me the option of that resolution in the monitor settings in the Display Properties. The options jump from 1280 X 1024 to 1600 X 1200.

Does the T60 provide that option? I assume newer computers would.

It is a 19" LCD widescreen from Gateway - FPD1975W.

My T60 will arrive in a week or so, and I need to determine if I should return this monitor. I hope not!

Thanks -- Barbara

My T60p with FireGL does. Not sure about the X1400/X1300/Intel thing tho.

If you are willing to install the omega drivers (the 6.7 ones should be out within the week), then they ought to support that resolution. I dont have a display to see if the ATI drivers will do it, but they very well may.

Not Iomega drivers, Omega drivers, lol. Omega drivers are a series of basically "hacked" Ati drivers that make the card perform much better than it normally would, to the point where i jump about 600 points on 3dmark05. It also supports just about every resolution in the book and IMO the omega drivers fix the 2gb of ram bug, at least temporarily. That is until IBM comes out with a fix, which better be soon, i hope.

Oh, duh. I had an Iomega Bernoulli box about 20 years ago - guess I've still got iomega on the brain! Thanks for the info and link. Will definitely check it out after I get my T60 set up.

So you know, the Omega drivers are OFFICIALLY endorsed by ATI as being the best tweaked drivers, and are recommended for gaming use. Version 6.7 should be out this week, at which point I will install them on my machine.

Question: if I uninstall the ATI control center to install Omega drivers, as Omega requires, and then for any reason decide I need to reinstall, is there a way to do this via ThinkVantage?

Thanks -- Barbara

Yes, I believe so. If you uninstall the normal drivers and install the Omega ones, the old ones should appear in the software installer program and allow you to update (it does on mine). Since I have in the past installed the original drivers back onto my system, they are already sitting in the C:/Drivers folder on my PC. Video drivers are fairly easy to mess with.
