T60 2GHz w/128MB ATI --> trouble with power management

Is anyone with a new T60 having problems with power management? While I can manually put my T60 into standby and hibernation, I cannot do so through the power manager (power schemes). In other words, I have my monitor set to turn off after a certain number of minutes, then a number of minutes later for my hard disk to turn off, then later for the pc to go into standy by and ultimately hibernation, but the pc will only turn off the monitor - I dont think the hard disk turns off and the pc will not go into standy by or hibernation. Interestingly, however, if I set standby to go off after say only 1 or 2 minutes, it will do so, but only if I do not have the hard disk set to go off.

I have spoken with tech support, but they don't know what the problem is, as I have the latest bios and power management drivers.

Anyone else have this problem?

I don't have my Thinkpad yet, but just today I noticed I was having the same problem on my Vaio. The only change I had made was that the screensaver and monitor off were both set for the same amount of time - 20 minutes. I changed one of them and now all is well. I am using an ATI card with the omega drivers (I just learned about them on this forum - fantastic!) so maybe the same fix will work for you.

Hey,

well it seem that Lenovo dont really want ppl to install Windows on their own.

You will have to install the Power managment driver, restart, and then install the power MANAGER and restart.
I know most of us delaying the restart till the end of all drivers installation, but in this case it is really needed.

Hope it helps. worked for me.
