X1400 Max Resolution

#1 Post by biinkbok » Sat Aug 26, 2006 2:04 am

I checked the ATI Web site, but I could not figure this out.

If I attached a 1600 x 1050 monitor to the DVD-D port on the mini-dock, can I drive a seconf 1600 x 1050 on the VGA port?

Also, am I correct that the x1400 only drives a max of 1600, or can it drive more?

I'm assuming you meant DVI-D port and 1680x1050 or 1600x1200 resolution... either way, the answer is yes.

The x1400 can drive up to physically 1920x1200. Or more, if you can find a single-link DVI (or VGA) monitor with more resolution.

Thanks for the info!

Just to make sure, I am assuming the that the replicator is a single link DVI-D port.

My ultimate goal would be to drive a single 30" display.

I was about to get an advanced dock when I figured out it's hard to find a card that will fit that is dual link to support the 30" display. If it was already dual link and the x1400 supported it, then it would be matter of just buying the monitor.

Otherwise, any suggestions on a good video card to drive a 30" display that fits in the dock? I don't do gaming. Just video editiing, and photoshop.

It looks like some people (DustBunny and tommcfadyen) are having success with the Connect 3D card. Look at page three of this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 8&start=60

Yes, the replicator's DVI-D port is dingle-link. But there are PCI-e cards that fit in the Advanced Dock that will get you Dual-link capability for the 30" displays.
