I have an Apple 20" display connected to the DVI port and a Samsung 215TW (21") connected to the VGA port.

I have them side by side and I am trying to see how "good" the Samsung monitor is.

When I take a window and place it "between" the two monitors, I see that the colors on the Samsung seem more washed out and a little less crisp. I have tried their "Magic-Tune" software to "optimize" the settings from default as well, but this only improves it slightly.

The specs on the Samsung seem better than the Apple, so I am wondering if this is the VGA port vs the DVI port, or is a result of an "inferior" monitor.

Does anyone have experience with this on the T60p?

VGA (analog) will almost always produce an inferior picture next to a DVI (digital) image.

If you swap the monitors, you'll probably see the best picture follow the DVI.

I haven't done much testing on my T60's VGA port, but in the past Thinkpad VGA-produces images have been relatively poor quality at resolutions beyond 1024x768. That's why I stick to DVI almost exclusively.

I had a feeling, but the Apple Cinema Display doesn't have a VGA cable, and I didn't have an extra DVI cable so I could not test it.

I really wanted to go DVI, but after I reviewed earlier posts, it seemed that trying to get a DVI based card to work in the PCI-e slot was going to be a challenge, with the card acting tempermental at best.

If someone could point me to a card that will do single link DVI for a single monitor, while I use the internal X1400 for a second DVI attached monitor, I can run two 24" displays and be happy as a clam.
