Can anyone recomend a "sure bet", stable PCI-e video card that will work with the internal X1400 card in my T60p and install in the advanced dock.
I want to drive 2 Dell 24" monitors, both off DVI.
The posts I have been reading talk about more than 2 video heads (don't need it) or cards that have worked for some and not others.
I need something rock solid and stable. No gaming. This is for Photoshop.
DVI Video Card for Advanced Dock
From experience, no.
We have not yet come to a conclusion regarding the reason some people have success with many cards, some have success with some cards, and some have success with no cards.

The current front runner seems to be the 256mb version of

with the provisos of newest bios on T60p, updated revision of the Advanced Dock from Lenovo, latest drivers direct from ATI, and PCI-E card set to Primary in the bios. Oh, and disconnecting the dock fans might work too!
I estimate you will still be in the 'guinea pig' phase of this game if you try this, but if you can afford to buy a card which then fails, you'll be adding more data points for our efforst to understand the issues.

1. Nothing - if no dock, or indeed card in the dock, is present, then the machine falls back to internal as primary. This is quite standard behaviour, and the only one that makes sense
2. Part Number 41W6558 is the one you want, I think... look at the thread on the dock recall.

Try what you can, and report back in the main thread:

good luck
