I have a t60 w/ 1.83 core duo x1400 and 2gb ram. my system used to idle at around 45 degrees and now it idles around 55 and sometimes even 60. the fan doesn't spin faster when it gets hot. i am using NHC2 to monitor the temps and undervolt. i can't figure this out at all.

Apple MacBooks and MacBook Pros have very well documented heat problems. they are also using the Intel Core Duo line of chips. Maybe it's the Intel Core Duo chip? My MacBook Intel Core Duo 2GHz runs at 65c all the time.

Which component in your system is "idling" at these temperatures?
The hottest component is invariably the GPU and temperatures over 70 are not uncommon and seem not to be a problem.

You could use the TP Fan Control utility (search for threads on this forum), but note that it was written for the T43, so its temperature readouts might not be accurate for the T60.
According to that utility my CPU is currently running at 50 degrees, which seems pretty normal.
