i've heard this is a great screen, and have read mixed reviews for gaming on an IPS screen. I'm wondering, is the IPS screen on the newer T60 still exhibit the same problem, or maybe less so? The games I'm most likely to play are Neverwinter Nights and Everquest.

thank you!

IPS is better screen in terms of color and contrast., in short - for graphics.

It is not suitable for gaming just because the way technology behind it is, the response time is alway big, and i mean at least 25ms...

I had no problem enjoying WoW or BF2 on my screen without ghosting.

WoW on my machine is fine. However, if you're really into "twitch" gaming then maybe the response time wouldn't be fast enough.

i dont think the games i'm playing are all that fast, NWN and EQ. i guess the newer IPS screens are the same as the older... same technology, same issues.

hey gastro, so have you run into problems with games not playing correctly on your FireGL card? Also, how do you find the UXGA resolution, sounds like it'd be prety small?

Ghosting and motion blur are seen by different people at different times.

Such as there are people who don't see any Ghosting or motion blurr on a 25+ ms display.

though I can see noticeable ghosting on even a 2ms displays.

For this reason on desktops I can only use CRT's which I find vastly superior to LCD's.

So it really just depends on you and your eyes.

Using Omega drivers, I personaly didn't have any stability / artifacting issues playing wow or BF2
I agree, that if you are into twitch gaming (Q3, other fast-paced shooters), then the IPS screen may not be the best because of response time. But if you are are going to be playing RPGs, there shouldn't be any noticable problem.
EDIT: Also, 1600x1200 isn't that big of a deal, I can read/see stuff in 1600x1200 on the IPS way better than on a CRT since the lines are crisp.
