T60 or T43?

I was thinking of getting a used T43 2 GHz for about $800 but then noticed the T60's on Lenovo can be had {1.83GHz base screen} for $1100.

I guess i'm looking for some opinions as to which would be the better all-around computer, mostly web work, some minor photo editing, some Pagemaker/InDesign stuff, some MS Publisher (posters and such), and the usual office tasks in Word, Excel, etc.?

If there's no effective difference I'm happy buying a used T43 (though I've got a 1.2GHz T23 now w/memory and 7200 RPM drive, and I'm wondering if either the above will provide a knock-my-sox off performance boost.

A little help much appreciated.

I'd got with the T60, as the performance increase in my opinion was well worth the jump in price. Dual cores made a solid difference in performance as well as the newer chipset. Keep in mind of course that I went from a T43p to a T60p, but the incremental difference would be roughly the same except for the big jump in video memory.

I would go with the T60. You won't notice much of a performance difference when doing simple or single tasks. What the Dual Core does provide is a very noticeable real life performance boost. If you have more than one app running at the same time you'll notice that Windows is more responsive. All-in-all the extra CPU provides a much improved user experience.

Although I can't compare to the T43, compaung to a normal mobile pentium ( 1.6Ghz ) the core duo in my T60+7200rpm+1GB+X1400 really impressed me a lot. Try to get the core duo - as duffy said: "Dual Core does provide is a very noticeable real life performance boost" + power saving + lower heat. It's worth it.
