Intel GMA 950 and SXGA+ screen?

I'm currently considering buying a T60 Thinkpad to use for education and a bit programming. My dad has one and I'm so jealous.

However, it seems I cannot buy a T60 with an Intel graphics card and an SXGA+ screen. 1024x768 resolution in GNOME makes my eyes bleed, and the Intel GMA card doesn't get very hot and even has open-source drivers.

Can anyone tell me if it will be possible to buy a T60 with these specifications? Or maybe it will first be available with the T61?

try there - this is a place where you can have "custom build" thinkpad.
you won't be able to get T60 15" SXGA+with GMA but you might want to consider R60 15"SXGA+ with GMA. both are about the same weight (well R60 is .4lbs havier but 6.2 versus 5.8 you not going to feel it). good luck.

I found 3 but they are open bay models :

ThinkPad T60 1953E5U 1953-E5U
(Intel Core processor Duo T2300,
14.1-in TFT 1400 x 1050, Intel 945GM,
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 chipset,
Bluetooth wireless technology, open bay)

ThinkPad T60 1953E6U 1953-E6U
(Intel Core processor Duo T2400,
14.1-in TFT 1400 x 1050, Intel 945GM,
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 chipset,
Bluetooth wireless technology, open bay)

ThinkPad T60 1953E7U 1953-E7U
(Intel Core processor Duo T2500,
14.1-in TFT 1400 x 1050, Intel 945GM,
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 chipset,
Bluetooth wireless technology, open bay)

Hope this helps. You would probably get better battery time. Wonder how is the performance comparing with the ATi 1XXX models.

Thanks for the replies! Will take a look at it after dinner.

By the way, what does "open bay" mean?

Where can I order such a machine? I cannot find 1953-E6U anywhere. I looked all over for such a model. I have an ATI X1400 model and that chip is useless to me as the most graphics-intensive thing I do is play DVD's.

I am also curious about what "open bay" means--my guess is that there is nothing in the Ultrabay.

Try this link for open bay models :

I did not ordered a open bay model before, but I was told that you can not just order a bare unit but has to fill your order with ram, HD, optical drive etc to make it a complete system.
