Our school has a bunch of T43's and have minimal problems with them. I am wondering if the T60 is an upgrade to the T43? Thanks in advance.

This guy was having some problems with his T43p and was eventually offered by Lenovo to get a new computer and has a choice of T43p or T60p.

Seems the concensus is that the T60 is an excellent choice.

I am sold already. How are the batteries in these things? Can we use the T43 charger on these batteries?

The T60 adapter supplies a different voltage (20V nominal vs 16V for the previous T models). Different adapter, different connector, different batteries.

BTW, it would be interesting to see what voltage range the T60 actually tolerates. For example, my T42 worked just fine on 14V from a Tekkeon battery. But voltage required for the computer to function vs. voltage required to charge the battery in the machine may be different. Better play it safe and wait for others to experiment

Both are great notebooks

both are great laptops. I owuld do the t43 only for price concerns but I am very happy with my t60p

For what it's worth... My T60 looks and feels like a ThinkPad. One small exception, not usually mentioned in reviews: The palmrest feels very flimsy on the left, where the card slots are, and it creaks if you press there. But that's a nit. On the plus side, a spill pan and drain holes under the keyboard in case of spill. Now, I have not had a T60P in hand, but I assume that it's up to the same standards.

I sell these in the commercial space, and I can tell you that all T43 models are end of life and are transitioning to the T60. Even large enterprises that have thousands of T43's installed must start purchasing T60 models on their special price letters.

My T43 has had that creak since day one as well. I just think it is luck of the draw on that. My Boss got his T43 at exactly the same time and his does not have a creak........looks like i am getting free upgrade (through work) for a T60 next week. Cannot wait.

Yes, at work I'm getting to trade in my Dell Latitude D800 for a T60 on Monday and I'm very much looking forward to the switch...finally a *usable* trackpoint again...

As the guy referred to, I have to say I'm happy with the T60p 94U that I got as a replacement.... PC-doc reports it has a problem in the video card, but it's minor so far --and I have "next day, on-site".... it hasn't been an issue in the short time I've had the machine.... and I'll get it fixed this week....

Other than that.... I'd say this is Big step up from the T43p.... The Casedesign is arguable, but very small point.... everything on it (screen, keyboard, build) is good....but I personally liked the T43 design....

But with the dual-core CPU, and the ability to add up to four gigs of RAM....that's a big deal.... and the graphic card is much stronger

With three gigs of RAM in the machine, it runs 32.bit.XP nicely..... definitely have the entire OS in RAM and still substantially more than two gigs available for apps... hardly ever hit the pagefile unless LOTS of stuff going on.... I mostly use it for AutoCAD

But...(ironically) the replacement came with a manufacturing problem (again).... however minor (the T43p was a full mobo blowout)...

so I'd definitely encourage anyone to get the on-site warrenty
