T60 password protect problem

#1 Post by amm59 » Tue Sep 12, 2006 1:35 pm

Okay, I am new here and I wasn't sure where to post this, because I'm not sure if it's a problem with my T60 or with Windows. Well anyway, I recently got a T60. I have it password protected when it's on screensaver. When I move my mouse to get rid of the screensaver, there is a 5 to 10 second delay before the password box appears. It's quite annoying, especially when I have to do something quickly. This has never happened on any other laptop or desktop I have owned. I have only had the T60 for a month, although I cannot recall whether it has done this from the beginning. Any ideas of what could be causing this? Is it Windows or my T60? Thanks.

The security software makes my T60 slow too i think adding more ram might fix the problem.

More RAM *always* fixes those kinds of problems. ;) :)

There shouldn't be such a delay, which usually means that Windows is running some extra processes (possibly wireless and/or AC? YOu can check the Event Logger for specifics) that get triggered when you exit the screensaver or that the screensaver is a very intensive screensaver. The latter is the only way I could ever manifest a delay on my T43 with the latest CSS software, otherwise it should operate just fine.

HTH :)

I think I have 1 gig of ram. Yes, it is almost always running the wireless internet and it's always plugged in. The screensaver is not intensive, it's one of the windows ones. Hm. Maybe I can try turning the wireless off, let it go to screensaver, and see if there's a delay still. Otherwise I have no idea :?
