Multiple Access Connections

#1 Post by tucan » Fri Sep 15, 2006 4:26 am

Hi all,

After lots of research and useful info from this forum I have a new shiny T60 and its great.

In the past I have used netswitcher to control my network connections, as I often need multiple IP addresses on one NIC, and to have wireless active at the same time as wired LAN connection. (I work with pro networked sound systems and have to connect to many systems at the same time)

Unless I have missed something, I dont seem able to use access connections to connect wirelessly and wired at the same time to two different networks. Please let me know if you think otherwise.

As I work with fixed IP addresses most of the time, can I configure these with Access connections or do I have to use the normal Windows IP setting dialog boxes?

I would like to use access connections if possible as it seems to connect faster than using the normal windows wireless zero configuration stuff with the netswitcher front end.

Any advice or info appreciated

To the best of my knowledge, Access Connections cannot deal with two IP's at the same time.

I actually wasn't aware that Windows (or Linux) could either. The host OS needs to know where to send data and if it has two IP's on one NIC it doesn't know what to do.

If your current setup allows this, I would be inclined to stick with it.
