Did I order a "French" Laptop?

Greetings to all!

Just wondering.. I recently ordered a laptop from Lenovo Canada, with the model number 2007-9EF.

The unit wasn't cheap by any means ($4500), has 2GB RAM, a 100GB HD, and a 2.33ghz Core Duo processor with a 15" 1600x1200 UXGA Display.

My question is this. When I ordered it last night, under the T-Series "product" page with the listing of all the models (from lowest to highest price), in the table colum with the unit's model number, it says "french".

http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... Id=2049168

You can scroll to the bottom of this page to find the 2007-9EF unit.

It does not say anywhere else that the unit would otherwise be in the french language, and I mean anywhere in the spec page, the ordering page, nothing. If you click on the unit's Spec page, it even says "English Canadian Thinkpad Thinkcentre" in the titlebar.

So- did I order a unit with a french keyboard or something? Unfortunately I only speak english, so that could cause some troubles when the unit shows up. I can't imagine it would be, because it doesn't say French anywhere else with that particular unit anywhere on the website other then in the table listing of all the T60 units.

Cheers!

I'm from the Netherlands, and I bought my T60p in germany. The company I got it from supplied me with a English windows, and I ordered a US/International keyboard trough IBM for 30 bucks.

Can you check if you're gonna get an English windows version? Maybe you can contact IBM/Lenovo (in the Netherlands its still IBM) about that.
The keyboard shouldnt be a problem, you can replace it yourself in 5 mins.

You should probably try to contact Lenovo sales by phone ASAP. It does look like you ordered a French language machine. The keyboard is the least of your problems -- you will probably get a preinstalled French version of XP, utilities, etc.
Or, you could look at it as a good learning opportunity...

ScottishCaptain,

I concur, not only will you get a french-canadian keyboard but also
a french install of WinXP.

Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought had happened.

Luckily, when Lenovo/IBM called me today, I asked the lady on the line (they wanted my Visa again for confirmation) about it. She said it was the french model, but they did have the English model for the same price.

I told her to switch it, and apparently she did.
