Can't enable Bluetooth. Help!
Can't enable Bluetooth. Help!
I installed the Bluetooth software and updates. When I hit Function F5 (or Function 5 or whatever it is... I'm not looking at it now) it only toggles my WLAN on/off.
When I go to Bluetooth Configuration in Control Panel it hangs for a while and then tells me no Bluetooth Device found.
It shows it as working within Device Manager. I can't get the bluetooth LED to light up, and I can't get it to see my bluetooth mouse.
Any ideas?

It sounds like you may have already done this, but the first time I used bluetooth on my T60 I had to get Windows to install the drivers off the hidden system image partition. I forget how I did it; right clicking on the bluetooth icon in the system tray, or maybe Fn-F5 or something. But it did the usual Windows driver install routine, then Bluetooth was working.
Of course, be sure the Bluetooth radio is on as well via Fn-F5. The UI is a bit confusing; just turn everything on.

It came with it. I've since installed the WLAN card, but BT came standard.carbon_unit wrote:Did this bluetooth module come with your T60 or did you install it yourself?

I downloaded all the drivers/software from Lenovo. Maybe I'll see if there is something different on the hidden partition.nelson wrote:It sounds like you may have already done this, but the first time I used bluetooth on my T60 I had to get Windows to install the drivers off the hidden system image partition. Fn F5 only lists the WLAN... argh! I suppose I could install Access Connections.

Here the device is listed. It says it's working properly.

But when I hit Fn F5, only the WLAN is listed.

And if I go to Bluetooth Configuration, I get this message:

The bluetooth software is installed. I don't know what's going on.

the software is installed. I see it in Add/Remove Programs. But nothing else shows up underneath Bluetooth.bwd wrote:check this post, I think you should also see "Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate", I do on my T60 with BT.blackwood wrote:Here the device is listed. You could try to check if it's installed in software installer.
If it is, remove both instanses and reinstall. And if nothing work try to call lenovo.

This problem seems weird, I know, but it has a simple fix...
I had the same "problem" with my T60 when I first got it. I had to update the Bluetooth driver (from Lenovo's site) in order to use my new Logitech Bluetooth mouse. I got that all installed (as described by the original poster) but still I couldn't get the Bluetooth radio to go on. "What gives?!", I thought.
Well, here's the answer:
You have to use the Lenovo-provided "Access Connections" application to manage your wireless radios. Open the program and then choose the "Tools" menu. You will see listed at the bottom of that menu a submenu entitled "Bluetooth Device....". Open that submenu and you'll see the option to enable the radio. Once the radio is enabled, you can proceed to use it. Viola! Fixed!
From then on, use only the Access Connections application to manage your WLAN and Bluetooth radios (in fact, you have to use it once it is enabled for the WLAN because it overrides the WinXP wireless radio controls).
I hope this helps. If you need more details, post again.
