Display Refresh >60hz - NEED HELP!!

Hi- i've got a new T60 with the intel graphics inside and am trying to get the screen refresh to 75hz. The only options i get are 50hz and 60hz which both make my eyes sore...

i've read some post here that it is not advised - but i prefer the screen to be damaged instead of my eyes..

could anyone provide hints/hacks on how to achieve that? (already tried downloading latest files from lenovo.com, as well as from intel.com - didn't help at all).

Thanks
Pino

Did you try unchecking the box: Hide modes that this monitor cannot display in Control Panel / Display / Settings / Advanced / Monitor?

And just to be sure: I suppose you are trying to change refresh rate for an external CRT monitor (not for an LCD display -- that would make no sense)?

i'm trying to to change it for my internal t60 display. why would that not make sense? could do it on my t40 and before on my t21 - no problems and much easier to the eye.

unchecking that has no effect at all

It doesn't make sense because LCD screens do *not* have a refresh rate. Pixels are on or off. CRT screens do not have pixels, and are rastered, so they *do* have a refresh rate.

I am not sure what you are talking about because I had a T23, and T30 and now a T41 and there is no refresh capability. If you hide the modes that cannot be displayed, it says 60 Hertz (and allows no other) but it is not refreshing at that particular rate.

If I set a CRT to 60Hz, the flickering is intolerable, but there is no flickering on an LCD screen ( that I can see).

My NEC AccuSync LCD on my Desktop says it has 60, 70 and 75 Hz modes, but there is absolutely no difference in the modes (I just tried it just now).

hmm, as far as I know changing the Mhz on ur LCD panel doesnt make a whole lot of sense. Because the way it builds the image is very different from a CRT.

Whereas a CRT 'draws' the lines from left to right, from top to bottom. An LCD does NOT refresh its pixels, unless there is a need to change the color of it. So for example a white pixel will not change or be refreshed, unless it needs to be for example a green one. Thus the flicker effect (caused by the refreshing) you have with CRTs is not a issue.

What is an issue on LCDs is the time for a pixel to change from black to white, which is called its respons time, a too slow a responstime can cause ghosting. But fortunately on our T60s this responstime is certainly fast enough to not have any ghosting.

EDIT: JD was faster.... grmbl
