settings gone during battery swap?

My replacement battery will arrive tomorrow, the old battery will be collected by the same firm on arrival of the new one. This means the T60 will not be on the mains or on battery power for about 8 hours.
Does the T60 keep its settings (time, etc) during this time or do I have to do a lot of resetting.

Yes, the settings you mention are saved. The main battery is not what keeps them. Inside the unit there is a battery the size of a small coin which keeps those settings. You can see the backup battery at the end of this short film clip:
