Few random questions after full thinkvantage updates please.

Hi all,
Ok, I have a couple quick and random questions that seem to have me wondering why things are they way they are after my updates from the ThinkVantage tools.
1. Since running complete updates (minus the 1.4gig recovery update), bug everything else including the bios updates I now notice that my fan is running continuously and at a much louder and noticble range than it was prior to the updates. Is this common or unique to my system? I thought maybe it might be due to the chipset support, but I wondered if this has happened to others.
2. For some reason since the updates, I am now unable to dissable and hide the EVDO and LAN connections in the task bar (lower right icons next to clock). When I try to dissable and hide them I am getting a message that says they are being used by another component even though they are not conncected.
3. Do you find having the entire line of updates a positive or a negetaive due to some updates not needing to be used? I figured I would just update the system 100% and just play it safe, so was this a good or a bad thing?
4. For some reason after the update to finger print app, everythime windows now loads a splash sceen is presented looking for me to make selections even though I already have a profile created.
Any help especially with #1 & 2 would be extremely appreciated, I must admit, I am just learning my way around the ThinkVantage tools and all of the ThinkPad bits and apps that make everything run, but so far so good.
Thanks in advance.
