CSS7 windows logon issue

#1 Post by gator » Sun Oct 08, 2006 11:43 pm

I installed CSS 7 (without reading the pitfalls, unfortunately) through software installer yesterday, and I have this nagging problem: My windows logon screen has changed from a very functional swipe/password option to something different (I can't either swipe or press Ctrl-alt-del to type password and login as in CSS 6. I **have** to choose one of these or both, and proceed accordingly. The old functionality in CSS 7 was very convinient - I'd either swipe or type my password) Also the system takes ages to boot, and after it boots, I once again get asked to swipe my finger again by the password manager.

If I go to "manage security policies" and choose 'disable client security logon interface' I go back to the boring old windows login. Is there a way to get the CSS 6 type login screen back under CSS 7?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Same problem...But mine seems a bit more serious.
I get a fingerprint dll error anytime I start up windows. Then I have to type in my password. Once i get into windows, I get an error message of explorer failing to work. Then NOTHING (absolutely nothing but the thinkpad default world background to stare at. No files, No folders.

Anyone experienced this?

My biggest issue is I cannot seem to downgrade to css6 which I would be perfectly fine with doing as it would solve my problems. Making css7 work would be nice as well but I'd be more than willing to reinstall six.

Take a look in the Windows OS forum. There is more of a discussion of this over there. http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=25697
There are other threads in the Windows OS forum on CSS7 as well.

I haven't any of the problems you guys are talking about. I did a fresh install of XP SP2 when I got my laptop and only installed the fingerprint reader software from IBM and the only time it asks me to swipe my finger is at login and even then I have the option to ctrl+alt+dlt and put in my password.

Yeah, I have to agree, CSS7 is buggy. I wouldn't let me switch between different logon names. One is my cached credentials from my work domain, and the other is my local machine's account.

It was forcing me to only use the local account.

I uninstalled it as well as the fingerprint reader and reloaded the fingerprint reader software. I currently running just the fingerprint reader software.
