Screen flicks when going to energy save mode with screen

hi folks,
is it normal that the screen is flicking when the book is going to battery save mode during working under windows?
T60 Large (14" 1400x1050,2gb,80gb,9cell bat, and advanced ultrabay battery)-->going to have a big x60 :D, Apple Powerbook G4, DesktopPC, Networkslave (dell optiplex as printserver) ->next upgrade: samsung mh80 120gb drive

When you say flick do you mean dissapear very briefly or image twiching?

I always assumed that when a laptop does this it was switching from the standalone Graphics chip to the one built into the Centrino chipset.

I think that it could be caused by a chance in the ati powerplay settings.
T60; T2500, 1GB RAM, 100GB, 7200RPM 100GB hitachi drive, 14.1" SXGA(1400x1050), ATI Mobility Radeon X1400, DVD-RW, Intel WLan 3945 a/b/g. + new sony 6-cell battery
