Internet Explorer Branding and other software

#1 Post by DAH » Thu Oct 12, 2006 11:29 pm

Would anyone happen to know the program that adds the "Lenovo" button to Internet Explorer? Or the one that installs the firewall and virus checker? I'd like to install to a relative clean copy of Windows XP, with out being forced to install all that Lenovo installs.

Thanks,

What "Lenovo" button? Where is it?
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

If you have a "factory" install then on Internet Explorer at the top right is a black "Lenovo" name. If you click on this you will be taken to the Lenovo web site.

It's actually part of the Lenovo-branded Google toolbar. I got rid of it on my T60 by uninstalling the Google toolbar, and going to Google website to download and install the generic toolbar. There is probably a better way by tweaking a file or registry entry somewhere, but what works, works.
