I just checked the new Tabook - Version 314 - and then checked Lenovo's web site for the best deals and here's what I'm trying to decide between. Any opinions?

T60 2623-KFU Core 2 Duo T7200 2.00 1GB 14.1" SXGA+ 128MB X1400 120GB 5400 DVD±RW ✶ Intel 11a/b/g Verizon Blue PM 9-cell

T60 2007-6PU Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16 1GB 14.1" SXGA+ 128MB X1400 120G 5400 Combo ✶ Intel 11a/b/g None Blue Finger PM 9-cell

T60p 2623-D8U Core Duo T2500 2.00 1GB 14.1" SXGA+ 256MB 100GB 7200 DVD±RW ✶ Intel 11a/b/g Verizon Blue 9-cell

Where did you find these deals? The C2D doesn't appear on the T60 and T60P's configuration page yet.

Those models are all listed in the latest Tabook:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitute/psref/

I ended up ordering the 2007-6PU but I can always change the order before it ships on 10/31 if anyone would like to pursuade me to buy something else.

I don't need the Verizon EVDO card since I have a Treo 700p but I would like a 6-cell, DVD burner, and 100gb 7200rpm drive, which I plan to lift from my existing T60. Not ideal but the new Core 2 Duo T60p was out of my budget.

Well it all depends on what you want to do with it? The big plus of the T60p is the faster HDD and the FireGL card. Do you need these extras? I, for example, do, because I do a lot of 3D CAD and photoshop and premiere.

I'm not sure on the prices of the CoreDuo and Core2Duo, but if its not that extreme a difference, I would take the Core2Duo, just because its 64bits. Tho, if the difference was say, 400 dollars, I wouldnt do it.

Unless you need the 3D, avoid the V5200 card. It will just increase heat & power draw.

WWAN will increase resale value, as will DVDRW. Knowing you John, it will be resold pretty soon ;)

Hi, Your link took me to FTP server where I found and opened the tabook. But, it still shows the september release old tabook and new C2D models are not listed there. I tried this many times. Still getting the old one. Can you be of any help to me?

perhaps this helps:

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitu ... tabook.pdf

when you open the previous link, you get a directory listing of the FTP server, check for the dates, the latest tabook is from 17 october.
