Warranty period confusion

#1 Post by krajicek » Wed Oct 25, 2006 3:41 am

I bought new T60 recently.

I've checked my warranty status online and it states date = date of manufature + 3 years.
In warranty part of 'Service & Troubleshooting Guide' shipped with machine it says:
Parts & Labour 4 years
Battery pack 1 year

so I'm confused.

any experience with this.

Makes little sense to me, but according to lenovos site when i cross checked my serial, my warranty is only until 2009, hence three years, despite the manual implying I should have four.

3 years parts and labor for T- and X-Series is right (1 year for the battery).

R- and Z-Series have 1 year (usual).

I have seen some offerings by resselers for the R-Series with 2-years warranty but this seems to be a special agreement with Lenovo.

However, you can buy a warranty extension pack. The following options are available:

- 3 years 48h Courier Collect (instead of Customer Carry In)
- 4 years 48 h CC
- 4 years Customer Carry In
- 3 years On Site
- 4 years On Site

All warranty extensions are also available together with a Thinkpad Protection Plan (available in Europe; don't know if they offer in the US too), which is a kind of insurance for damages.
