Problems with my Thinkpad - WIFI and Fingerprint

#1 Post by Marciavelli » Fri Oct 27, 2006 6:39 pm

Hello,
I just gave up!!!!
I updated my system with "System Update 2". But after this some grave problems occured:
1. My WI-FI Connection cannot receive an IP, when using "ThinkVantage Access Connections" und WPA-Encryption. It does work properly with no encryption. I confirmed the encryption code 15 times, checked all settings, but found no solution.
Then I tried to configure the connection via Windows. First it didnt work either, but after repairing the connection alll went fine. Then I changed again to "ThinkVantage Access Connections" and it works properly for 2 minutes, then it lost the connection and is not able to rebuild the.
But how to get a connection via "ThinkVantage Access Connections"? Where is the problem?

2. After installing the updates the logging-in-process is damaged. Befor the update I used the fingerprinter one time as the power-on-password and the the system "logged-through", now I have to type in my password for windows . How to solve this?

Thank you vey much
good night from a tired german guy

P.S.: The service of IBM is the worse service for IT I used ever. Does anybody know, whether there is a simple support-formular?

One thing that multiple techs at IBM have suggested to me is that when you update ANY networking drivers, do it manually, and not using system update or software installer. Even though it works for many people, they say that the automated method screws things up sometimes.
