Keyboard\touchpad not present intermediately on boot up

#1 Post by BGChris » Wed Nov 01, 2006 8:26 pm

I am having an issue with multiple T60 machines where on boot up (outside docking station) the thuchpad and/or keyboard don't work. When I power off and then back on it works. Happens about 50%. Windows XP

Do you have the latest BIOS and EC installed as well as the UltraNav drivers? :)

EC (Embedded Control) Revision; they usually release later versions to fix bugs in the previous ones. Some of the later releases have had to do with the keyboard. :)

How do I check the EC verison, and where do you find any upgrades for it. Lenovo's website doesn't say anything about the EC.

If you are using the T60 and this is just an assumption.

Try this

MIGR-63024

Search for that Document at IBM.com. This will update your BIOS and EC.

Hope that helps

The url is http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-63024

Check toward the bottom of this url for info on how to check the bios version installed. Note that some people have recently reported major issues with version 2.01 so you might want to consider using the previous version 1.11 ... If you do decide to update the bios and have never so before before be sure to read and follow the instructions exactly!!!!

I had the same problem

I had the same problem and fixed it by updating the bios and the dirvers. I did this from start>allprograms>thinkvantage>software installer. The bios update alone did not fix the problem.

My problem was that the touchpad and trackpoint and all non-function buttons would not work on startup sometimes. All the Fn+ buttons worked fine along with external mouse and keyboard.
