I just bought a new T60P, 2 GB Ram, 100 GB harddrive 7200 rpm . I am having an issue with the hard drive running constantly when my Outlook is open. I log onto the office server which runs Outlook exchange, but have not had this issue with other Thinkpads. I tried the settings to make sure that the refresh was not set for constant refresh, spoke to tech support who was clueless??? Any ideas????

I got rid of the T-43 and hoped that I could get this one to perform.

Thanks,

Michael :(

I have the same issue. I suspect that Outlook is constantly compacting in the background. You might try stopping sending/receiving, then remove any smartphones/PDAs (so no ActiveSync activity), followed by a manual compaction after which it would have no reason to compact in the background. If hard drive activity stops, that's the culprit
