Periodically, my new T60 beeps at me. It's the kind of beeping you hear if you adjust the volume. Ideas?

Ok, I think that was the "play a sound when I get new e-mail" feature of Outlook.

Nevermind that wasn't it. I'm not quite sure why it's beeping at me. And I was wrong about the sound. The sound isn't of when you adjust volume, it's more of a pc speaker beep at me. Ideas?

Mine only beeps when it first boots up and then it is quiet...man I hope all it needs is a simple adjustment and not a defect. No one has posted a thought yet so it could be serious! Good Luck.

I think it was some sort of setting or alert or something, I guess time will tell, but it hasn't done it since that last post I made in this thread. Everything works fine I know that much. Good and fast, and the screen is the best screen I ever saw. Plus, I don't know why people complain about these Chicony keyboards for, it seems fine to me. I don't see any flex in the keyboard no matter how hard I press the keys.

Ok ok, now I figured it out. If you press caps lock and more than 1 letter key at the same time, it beeps at you. And if you are used to a different keyboard layout, you will do that every now and then...so that's what I was doing.

GREAT, that means it is not a problem with the computer. What screen did you get, the 14"? If so do you see a way to adjust the contrast? The brightness is easy but I'd like to add some contrast to it.

15" flexview (I do a lot of photo editing, it was one of my motivating factors to get this). I don't know any way to adjust contrast on a laptop

As far as I know, the brightness and contrast changes are linked together from the user standpoint. So it is either Fn+Home or Fn+End to change both.

Also, there is a way to turn that beep off if it is what I am thinking of. Go to th Device Manager, check "Show Hidden Devices", expand the Non-Plug and Play list and disable the "Beep" device. That should do it.

Thank you, that worked. I'll be able to stay sane while I get acclimated to a new keyboard (I type very fast, so while I'm getting used to a keyboard I tend to mash keys every now and then).
