Has anyone been able to download the latest bios from Lenovo for the T60? The 2.01 version. I checked on the site and tried the link from wikpidia and still only get the 1.10 version. Can someone email me the latest 2.01 version for the t60 so i can upgrade my processor. Thanks

Looks like Lenovo pulled it. Other posts indicated that 2.01 was clobbering the bios in certain t60 models. I guess Lenovo removed it after getting back a lot of thinkpads for repair. Of course this is only a guess on my part since there has been no formal announcement from Lenovo.

I wouldn't if I were you (especially getting the link *for the BIOS* from Wikipedia...Why are you trying to get critical support software from there?

). If you have a certain planar and you flash to the 2.01 BIOS, then you run a significant chance of turning your system into a doorstop. The only remedy for that is to send it in to IBM/Lenovo for a new planar. If your system ends up roasted, then there is no real way to flash the previous BIOS back onto it to get it to work
Wait until Lenovo re-posts a newer version and it is fixed before updating. It is also a good idea to read back here in case there are any serious developments regarding important software, driver, and firmware updates.

Check out Lenovo Vista Beta site the 2.01 Bios is still there,
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... STA#driver I have the original 2.01 and tried loading the beta, I couldn't and I take that to mean their is no difference.

but, but, but... I just installed 2.01 last week, after what seemed like weeks of waiting.

I never put a new BIOS on until it's been out for a while.
I wish they would have made a 2.01a instead of just reverting backwards, and removing all traces of 2.01. If they made a new version, even if it were just a repackaged old version, I would at least see it when I ran System Update...
Poor problem management, I say...

I have been running 2.01 for a couple of weeks now, with no problems. What are the alleged issues?

I'd like to know what the problems we're talking about with 2.01 are too. I used 2.01 for a while but switched back to the Vista 2.00b because I felt the fan noise was increased in 2.01.
But roasting things?

There were some
posts awhile back where, after updating the BIOS correctly, the user discovered that their system would not boot or turn on correctly. It was supported by one other user that said it had happened to him and that Lenovo told him about the issue where the latest BIOS would adversely affect some planars in the T60s.
It may be that the current 2.01 is a newer revision or the problem was very quickly corrected.

Looks like they pulled it from the Beta site also. I couldn't find it.
Also looks like they pulled 1.11, very interesting. I had downloaded 2.01 and 1.11 on Nov 1 in anticipation of receiving my new t60p. I wonder what bios version will be on it when I receive it (if I ever receive it

)

On my T60 (2007-77G) I'm running bios v. 2.01WW, which was proposed and installed via System Update a couple of weeks ago.
So far everything is working nicely, the new bios has actually made a ZTE pcmcia WWAN (HDSPA) card work properly: such a card, with the previous bios, was not recognized upon insertion (I had to boot 2-3 times with the card inserted to let the system see and use it) and quite often it was causing blue screens during operations. Now it works perfectly.
I assume that my motherboard is one of those not suffering from incompatibility with 2.01, otherwise the problems would have happened immediately... is this correct?
I would like to keep (for the time being) bios 2.01, unless someone has infos indicating that some problems may also arise with the time... any indication is appreciated.
Best regards
Neb

Can anyone supply various BIOS versions?
I'm running 2.0G and the noise is very upsetting - the fan runs at 3400RPM while my friends T60 with the same temps, runs at a quiet 2900RPM.

Geez, so does 2.01 fix the fan noise or not? And is there an ETA on it's re-release?
is it even possible to use 1.10 on a core 2 duo? Because the lenovo techs keep telling me that the newest bios available is 1.10 and I should go install that on my machine.
To be honest, I'm quite tempted as my roommates T60 (same hardware, except core duo 2.13Ghz) run a lot more quiet than mine does. We have the same hardware and the same temp reading, but his is a lot more silent than mine. T60s < T42

2.00G is garbage. And I have no idea why they put it on machines shipping out and have tech support saying that its not the right bios.
I'm having bluescreen issues with 2.00G and its not a pretty site. It also doesn't seem to like ie7, which runs really really slow and crashes alot.

I'm running 2.00g and have no issues with anything. If tech support is telling oyu 2.00g is the wrong bios which one is the right one?

OK as there is/was more than one version of the 2.01 BIOS I'm running the first one, 2.01(79ETC1WW) with embedded controller version 1.07. I've run it with Windows Media Center 2005 roll up 2 and with Vista Ultimate 6.00.6000 on a 2613ETU I've never noticed a problem with my fan, and can't normally hear the fan. Perhaps that's do to my age, or simply because my T60p is not loud.

Same version here, cpu-z reports for it the date of 9/29/2006.
No problem of any kind neither under XP nor under Vista RC2; moreover, a ZTE Onda-rebranded WWAN PC card has begun to work properly after upgrading the bios to 2.01.
Fan is almost inaudible, in any situation.

Absolutely correct. No problems whatsoever with BIOS Ver. 2.01 (79ETC1WW) on motherboard/planar FRU #41W1370. ... perhaps other motherboards have issues ...

Pretty sure tech support doesn't know what they are talking about. They weren't even aware that a 2.00g bios existed. They told me to install 1.10, but that bios won't even install on my system. Anyone know when lenovo will rerelease 2.1? 2.00g is causing blue screen of death memory parity errors, and if they aren't releasing a fixed bios soon I will need to return my T60p.

I was able to fine the bios(79ETC1WW) , took the chance of loading it and everything is working just fine. Since i already purchased the new Core 2 Duo, i couldnt wait for a Lenovo update. It could be weeks or months b4 the new bios comes out. I couldnt wait while the processor was just sitting there collecting dust. I am not suggesting you go out and do as i did.
Reading from the other post previous user who had problems was one who tried loading the bios with his docking station. err go problem.
I loaded the Bios on 2 T60's (me and my brother) and it went flawlessly without any hiccups. Just my 2 cents. Load at your own risk.
