Screen Flickering on Battery

Originally I though the connection between the laptop and the screen was bad ... but it appears not. My screen flickers when the laptop is on battery. In addition, if I'm typing real fast, when the screen comes back on, the letters will appear after it comes on ... it's acting like the whole laptop is actually dieing and the screen isn't getting disconnected.

I've seen the same thing, the screen will just cut out for a second or two at a time... for me it always seems to come right back, but it's certainly annoying and I can't figure out any logic to what triggers it.

Make sure you run the software installer against the system...and make sure the update modules for XP have been locally installed...

It just blanks out for about 1 second, and usually twice in a row within a second or two of each other. It does not happen when in Maximum Performance mode. It happens only when in battery saving mode, but I haven't found the specific cause or setting that might prevent it. I'm thinking it might have something to do with a screen saver timer (not the one built into XP).

Is it related to the screen off (no activity timer) or the dual dimming mode of the TPPM power profiles? Try enabling one of the basic windows profiles (like Portable/Laptop) and see if it reoccurs. Make sure that Screensaver is set to <None>.

Seems that Codec has the exact same problem as I do. I put it on maximum performance and it went away ... however I lost quite a bit of battery life.
Scratch, it will do it right in the middle of typing or playing a game. And I don't run a screensaver or any sort of power management to turn the screen off.
I'll try running the software installer thingy.

Hi there,
i've got the same issue here with mine, the screen is flicking and going out for a second... it often happens when i'm turning my t60 on and start working with, or it comes back from hibbernating...

This is related to the Power Schemes. The "Power Source Optimized" and "Maximum Battery Life" profiles will attempt to change your display refresh rate to 40Hz after 3 minutes. When this change occurs you will experience a small flicker.
My advice is to use a different profile, or simply make your own.
