Loss of FN+F3 and FN+F5 functions

#1 Post by perry_78 » Wed Nov 15, 2006 1:57 pm

Today was quite the day. It began with something relatively innocent, with power manager telling me I am not authorised to view power schemes. I told myself its probably the result of the one week up time with frequent hibernations inbetween. Upon my third reboot it stopped giving me this crap (I was logged on to client security all along) and I found myself simply losing all my power schemes. So, I figured I would fiddle with it, found some possible solutions on the forum. I deleted Power Manager and the Power Manager driver, reboot, then reinstalled with Software Installer. Lo and behold, I found myself with one power scheme, timers off.

Another reboot later, FN+F3 doesn't even do anything. I try to go into wireless settings, FN+F5 only switches BT on, doesnt bring up the splash screen I wanted. I decide its time to revert to factory defaults.

Now I've been having fun for the past few hours trying to revert, getting multiple "file is currently in use" and "file cannot be located". Something is very very wrong, time to run harddrive diagnostics.

Any takes on what could have resulted in a loss of those powerschemes and subsequently many of the Thinkvantage utilities?

Do you have an intel wireless card?

Can you see if there are multiple incidents of LIBEAY32.DLL on your system? Usually the one in \wireless\bin is the most current...use it to overwrite the others.

Overwrite the older ones with the one from
