T60 and Advanced Minidock problems.

Hi All,

I just recently received my brand new T60p (2613LQU), which I'm pretty happy with (2.33Ghz, 100GB 7200, 2GB RAM, Cingular WWAN). With it, I also ordered the Advanced Mini Dock. Unfortunately, there are some problems with the mini dock.

The problem I'm having is that the computer just won't power on when it's docked. The power LED comes on, but no life otherwise, no fan, no backlight, no HD. I've tried detaching everything from the Minidock, to no avail (had the same problem with my old T41 and old minidock, but detaching peripherals used to fix it). The only way to use the computer with the mini dock is to turn it on, and then dock it when it's already running. Once I do that, the mini dock appears to function properly, and all of its ports appear to be working.

Any ideas? Has anyone seen anything like this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

What ROM is in your T60? I believe some ROM can cause this. Do you have anything installed in your dock? Have you gone into the ROM and restored defaults?

Well, it's a minidock, and it still happens when nothing is attached to it other than the power adapter. My ROM (I'm assuming you mean my BIOS?) is the September 27th one. Oddly, the version is listed as 1.10 in Lenovo's website, and as 2.00 on my system, even though the release date is the same.

Hmm I suspect based on your version that you have one of the recalled BIOS. I'm running 2.01 another recalled BIOS, some people have reported a number of problems with the 2.x BIOS. It maybe worth going back to the 1.10 version. I seem to recall someone posting that with one BIOS they couldn't power up when attached to the dock.

You may have a defective minidock...I would call 800-IBM-SERV.

Does it do this when no external devices are attached to the system?
