Cool! I wonder who these 1680x1050 IPS panels are made by.
Also, will be interesting to see how big/heavy the widescreen T60's are compared to the Z series.

My sales rep told me that they would havea 14", and you can look at the widescreen options on the Z series as a model for what would be available on the widescreen T series.

My Z61P was recently stolen and I was about to purchase a T60P taking advantage of the holiday sale, but I now I see these rumors... Is it a popular opinion that widescreen is more preferable?

Heres a question for anyone who may know through Lenovo:
Will all models be available with both widescreen and normal aspect ratio? Basically, if I go to order a T, will I wind up not being able to get the one I want because its only available in a widescreen?

It is entirely based on preference. Personally I must have high resolution; 1600x1200 15" is nice, but IMO 1680x1050 15.4" is better and 1900x1200 15.4" is best

My Z61p had 1900x1200, and I thought it was a little too high. 1680x1050 would be nice, but this means a bigger footprint then the current T60. I guess I can wait a few days untill the rumored date to see what comes out. I just hope the sale won't end.

The higher the resolution the better! The small default size of the text and icons can be corrected, both in Windows and in Linux: just increase the DPI settings and you're done!

Any idea if the new T series models will have s-video or firewire?

Thus the Z series, I think, though firewire should be standard on EVERY two thousand dollar laptop.

Ugly? I think It looks pretty good.
I'm still confused about the quality of the the shell, and components versus the Z?

is the general public's attraction to widescreen in part due to the golden ratio and golden rectangle theory? similar to a frame of 35mm film, or a vertical magazine page? i personally dont think it's ugly, but it does look big.
why are the photo comparisons with a 15.4" widescreen and a 14" T series only, not with 15" T series? slackers!
why wouldnt they put speakers on the sides of the keyboard like on macbook pros and Z series? u think they'd actually plan to include a bigger keyboard at one point?
14" widescreen may come in time if the 15" one is a success? boo!
i heard there's a movement to make the widescreen aspect ratio the universal standard of... everything involving screens like tv and everything. to replace the 4:3... sounds right when you start considering all the widescreen films, HD formats, etc. etc.

Thanks for the heads up! Looks ... exactly the same
The side-by-side pic with a 14.1" t60 is startling; I didn't realize that 15.4" wides were the same height as 14-inchers.

I wonder if lenovo would even consider having 14" wide. Considering that currently a 15.4" wide is equivalent to a 14" normal (but wider), then if they were to release a 14" wide, that would be equivalent to a 13" normal. There have been no 13" T-series ever released before right? It would be getting closer to the X-series instead.

I hope so. 15.4" laptops are very wide and hard to transport. It certainly won't fit into my backpack.
