Hi!

I just received my brand new T60. I tried to put in a cd and explore it but nothing happens. It can read the cd label though.

What do I do?

Is this a fresh installed T60?
Which drive have this model?
Did you try another cds? (Original, CD-R,DVD,DVD-R)

When the issue also exists by using another cds, call the support - they will send you a new drive...

good luck

No fresh install...I just started the computer...

I didn´t create a adminstrator password could this be the problem?

I can play DVD movie!

This make me a bit less worried.

The parts lookup page gives me errors so I don´t know the part number.

The password shoudn´t be the problem...what kind of cds did you test with the drive?

I have tested CD-R, CD-RW an audio CD and a DVD movie

The audio and DVD plays in media player.
I can put in a CD-RW and from the pop-up menu choose to view the pictures on the CD as a slide show. I can not choose display folders and files from this menu however. Very strange.

I cannot explore any of these formats.

Oh boy :-)

It´s common that a brand new Thinkpad user has questions :-) When your system is new, and this issue will occur in future again, maybe a complete system restore by rescue & recovery will be fine!
Maybe the issue depends on a new installed software?

Have fun with your new TP!
