Hi, just got my T60 (2007-FUG), I need to report a MAC address to the IT department in order to get access to our network.

using device manager and/or ipconfig /all I see only one network adapter and one MAC address listed.
is the MAC same for WLAN and wired ethernet ?

Moi!

Are you sure you don't see the MAC addresses for your wireless and ethernet? Are you connected to a network?

ipconfig /all gives me the ethernet MAC under "Ethernet adapter Wired Network Connection" and "Physical Address",

and a bit further down I get the wireless network connection.

MAC address is different for both devices. You might also have a MAC address for your Bluetooth-connection and any virtual adapter you have on your laptop.

There are MAC address labels on the back of the machine near the serial number label.

thanks for the comments,

indeed I can see two different MACs on the stickers on the bottom of the machine.

however ipconfig /all still gives me only the wireless adapter, and now also a VPN adapter with it's own MAC (different from both the wifi and the ethernet printed on the stickers)

I first booted up the machine without network, so in the initial windows setup I just said 'skip' to the network setup.
So there's probably a driver for the network I need to pick up from somewhere ?

problem now solved.

turns out I was running in a battery saving mode which switches off the network card whenever it's not needed.

So I needed to plug in an ethernet cable - then the ethernet adapter becomes visible in control panel and also with ipconfig.
