T60 Bluetooth Help Needed

I made a mistake (I think) on my T60 with regards to integrated Bluetooth use and need some help.

I was recently upgraded from a T40 (w/o BT) to a T60 (w BT). I was using a D-Link USB DBT-120 on my T40 with supplied Widcomm software very successfully. Before I explored T60 features completely I decided to install this on my T60 as well. Since doing this I can not get either BT to now function correctly (uninstalled & re-installed via various schemes). Have installed and uninstalled both Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software and Widcomm Softawre that came with DBT-120.

Is there a way I can repair my problem? I'd like to get some functional BT working again.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Sadly you are only allow one Bluetooth Software stack per machine. As both devices are running Widcomm software, and Widcomm is heavily copy protected you may need to re-install depending on just what you've done.

It would be most helpful to know what you've done, and how you've tried to un-install. If you've stayed away from the registry you may be OK. If you've been playing in the registry you may be better off reinstalling windows.

What is listed in Add/remove programs now?

Thanks for initial advice. Only listing currently in add/remove is Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software. Widcomm software seems removed. No registry edits made.

Sequence (I think): install Thinkpad sw, install Widcomm, remove Widcomm, attempt Thinkpad sw removal but seems Thinkpad sw remains, then reinstall Thinkpad sw.

I was afraid that this might be problematic... but of course only after 'deed was done'.

Normally you are instructed to re-boot after removing the software, did you? Also did you install and remove with the device active?

What is happening or is not happening now when you turn the Bluetooth on? (Function F5) Do you get the LED turning on and off? Do you get an icon on the taskbar?

Rebooted after any notice to do so... Thinkpad SW prompted for this but the Widcomm did not. Function F5 seems to function OK... lights on and off on request for both wireless & BT LEDs. Wireless works fine. I have BT icon in taskbar, My BT places on Desktop, and BT configuration & BT devices in Control Panel. Under diagnostics tab of configuration saya...Bluetooth Device is not detected.

Does this info help? Thanks for taking the time to dialog.

Planning now to do an OS reinstall... no additional plans to continue post.
