At physical disconnect of a network the computer hangs, stops to work.

Computer IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T60p

Now if to disconnect LAN cable when the computer works from the accumulator, the computer in some seconds hangs.

The monitor works, the keyboard and the mouse are blocked. It is switched off only after long pressing the power button.

The same if to switch off 3Com switch to which the computer is connected.

If the computer works from an electric network system problems is not present. The error appears only at work from the accumulator.

Error messages are not present, in EventLog records are not present too.

After installed Windows Vista RC1 (since were not required the driver for HDD controller), problems are not present.

Tried to reinstall driver IBM on new versions, to delete them and to work with standard.

Tried to forbid power save PCI devices in BIOS and in options of a network card.

Before physical disconnect of a network the user disconnects a network adapter in Windows. In this case the computer does not hang.

Have you gone into Device Manager and open the settings for the Intel (R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection, then clicked on the Power Management (tab), and unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." setting?

What driver version are you running, and what Windows version are you running?

I've got the same problem and tried the same suggestion. Didn't work for me either. I thought it might be the Operating system (Windows 2003) , but hearing your report from a Windows XP install makes me wonder.

Unplugging the network cable when on battery power freezes the machine.

Perhaps disabling Deep Smart Power Down will fix it

Where are you Disabling the Deep Smart Power Down, in Windows settings, or in BIOS?

I'm doing it in Windows. Go to Device Manager -> Network Adaptors -> Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection. Right Click on it and select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and then select "Deep Smart Power Down" from the property list on the left. Select "Disabled" from the drop down on the right and you should be all set.

I don't have the details, but I heard it has something to do
with enabling the dual core mode for the CPU. I can find out more
if needed

Our problem was -- PC would hang after power cable or ethernet
cable disconnect. This is what I was told:
Our image didn't enable the multi-cpu support... So we updated the kernel and the hal to the multi CPU one's.
