Core 2 Duo cache size - 2MB vs 4MB?
Hi,
I have a T43 which I am very satisfied with, and I want to upgrade to Core 2 Duo T60 now. My biggest complaint about my T43 is that the 14" 1024x768 display is really crappy - narrow viewing angle with low resolution. And I've read reviews saying that even the T60 14" 1400x1050 display is crappy. So I'm heading for a 15" 1400x1050 FlexView.
However, here in Germany the student offers don't provide much of a choice and the only Core 2 Duo with such a display and Radeon x1400 comes with a Core 2 Duo T5600 1.83GHz with 2MB cache.
So, to the question - how can you compare the performance of 2MB- and 4MB-cached CPUs?
Thank you very much in advance!

Can you compare your display with the 15" FlexView? What about the viewing angle? Isn't everything too small on a 14" display with the 1400x1050 resolution?

for your student discount, enter in the actual model number of the machine you want manually rather than clicking through some menu and you might be able to get the configuration you wanted. That's what I did when the t60's were first coming out. At the time only the T43's were listed as available using the menu's on our website.
I'm sorry, I can't.ingenious wrote:Hey,meshua wrote:You can go for the 14“ SXGA+ size. I have that display and there are no complains ‘bout brightness from my side. Even on the highest level during AC mode I pull the brightness level down one bar.

The angle is like most of the other's displays. No problem in case you wanna show some text or a presentation to your audience. But when it comes to the point you wanna show pictures than you have to deal with the angle. Even when I do some pictures post processing due my Minolta D7D it is quit good. I really love the compact dims of the 14 inches screen and the 1400 by 1050 resolution - it's a pleasure to work with and...it's still truly mobileWhat about the viewing angle? A 14 inches 4 by 3 IPS (FlexView) panel would be an gorgeous option I'd fall in love with

Meshua, I "ditto" what you say. I have the 14" SXGA+ w/128 ATI and the display is far from "crappy". This screen is on thousands of machines, used by businesses, so the quality is there. Yes, a Flex in 14" would be a great way to go.

Can I simply swap out my T5500 CPU in my 1953CTO T60 with a T5600? Or my T2400 core duo in my 2623D6U T60?
