What will the battery time difference be between the X1400 graphics card in the T60 and the T60P with the 5200 card?

Right now I have an offer with just about 60% difference between the cards, and since weight is the same on T60 and T60P the only thing holding me back is that perhaps there is lower battery time on the T60P? (talking 9 cells here)

I don't know about the battery life difference, and I doubt anyone knows for sure - the best answer you'll probably get is just a guess or general observations. Power usage jumps dramatically based on usage no matter which chipset you get.

But I do know that there is a big performance difference between the X1400 and 5200. In my opinion, you will be able to squeeze an extra year or two of useful life out of your Thinkpad if you go with the 5200, plus a whole lot better resale value at the end.

Good points! By the way we're only talking the 14" inch models here.

Side question: what's the difference between the 5200 and the 5250 models?

my t60 does with wireless and avarage settings ca 5 a 5.5 hours.

Battery life depends on many factors like:
Screen size, Screen brightnes, HDD speed, Processor type, Battery's age, intensive usage, speaker volume, usage of optcal drive, usage of external hardware like mouse etc, and the list goes on and on. Its difficult to tell how long your battery will last. And impossible to tell wich (the t60 or t60p) will last longer because of the many different configurations.

One other thing battery life seems to depend on is whether you pulled your computer out of hibernate or shut down. I don't know why, I'm guessing it's a glitch, but I've found that my computer uses about 2.5-3W more if I turned it on from hibernate when on battery rather than turning it on from shut down. With my 15" flexview (2007-7ju, X1400 card) if I do everything possible to save power I get about 6.25-6.5 hours on batter (9 cell) with wireless off and an hour less than that with wireless on.

I just received my T60P with the 5250 256mb video card, 14.1 screen and so far my batter life has been right around 5 hours (9 cell). I charged it at work and spent 5 hours installing and configuring, finished up running a complet diagnostic with Pc-doctor 5 and it last 5 hours.

I just received my T60P but my experience so far has been pretty good. I had it delivered to work and charged it there. Once I got home I spent the next 5 hours installing my software and configuring it to my liking. I finished it up by running a complete diagnostic using PC-doctor 5, all on battery power (left my ac adapter at work). It last a little over 5 hours (9 cell battery).
