Hi everyone,

I am looking into the possibilty of upgrading my Laptop's 15" LCD, I am pretty sure I want an SXGA+ LCD in there, however I have some questions that I would appreciate it if I could have them answered.

1- If I upgrade my LCD does that void my warranty ?

2- I know it's highly likely to get a non-Lenovo/IBM LCD to work on my system, and it would be a much cheaper option, in addition many laptops get their LCDs from the same manfacturer, so how do I determine compatability before I order an LCD online ?

Thanks in Advance

1. you should call lenovo for a definitive answer instead of waiting around here

2. 3rd party panel seller or manufacture should be able to provide you with that information, after all, they need that information to make a living and sell their stuff.

You can get the exact part numbers for the FlexView/IPS screens from the ThinkWiki website. This is the link: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/TFT_displ ... _ThinkPads

If you then do a search for the part number on Google, you can find places that sell them. For instance, the part number for the LG-Philips IPS screen (the one in my T60) is LP150E05. Googling that number will find you places to order it.

I'm pretty sure that replacing the screen yourself will void your warranty, but you should probably confirm that by reading the Lenovo website.

I'd expect it to void the warranty.

Without a doubt it will void the warranty. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
