T60p Keyboard problem !

Hi,

Yesterday, as I was typing away, I lost use of the following keys: "qwertyuiop[]\" For a moment, I thought I was drinking when I looked at the screen and notice the words missing these letters.

I contacted EZ service and they are going to send me a new keyboard when they arrive in stock...

The problem seems to be inconsistent however because after I let the unit cool down, the keys started working aging... so strange.

Anyone else experience this problem?

Thanks

Did you check to make sure it wasn't a software problem with the OS loading another keyboard layout? :)

You may want to follow the keyboard removal instructions http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62800 and just re-install the same keyboard. One of the keyboard cable tabs may simply be loose.

If it turns out to be that simple, you can keep the new keyboard as a spare.

Hi Christopher,

I am not sure when the OS loads the keyboard layout profile. The problem did start to occur mid paragraph though

I did uninstall the driver in hopes that when it reloaded the driver it fixed the problem but it did not.

After a good cool-down it started to work again and has been up ever since. My concern is that it will go bad again when I am remote and can't access another computer.

Unfortunatally, I am ignorant on how to change the keyboard profile, will research it and make the check if it goes bad again.

Thanks for the tip !!!

Thanks for the tip... I just did it... everything looked good except one of the screws that holds the palm rest on was missing... There are 4 screws that hold it in place, two of them look to provide a ground for the electronics in the palm rest. These two positions had the screws in place so I don't think it had any influence to the problem.
